Today the Netherlands received so much snowfall. According to the National weather center KNMI in some parts of the north of Holland lies between 5 to 6 inches of snow. Normally the Netherlands get no more than between 3 and 5 inches of snow. It does occasionally snow in Amsterdam in February, but that almost always means just a light dusting. If you think the city is attractive in dry weather, just wait until you wake up one morning to see it covered in a thin coat of fresh snow. With the canals in the city and occasional high winds, there can be a nip in the air, but packing gloves and a scarf should keep you warm enough. But not only in Amsterdam, temperatures freezing are sweeping across Europe. The snow had a significant impact on social life and caused traffic problems in the north of the Netherlands, while in other parts of the country, police have been busy with a number of weather related accidents. The Dutch rail networks were severely affected as usual when it's bad weather. But kids love to play in this snowy world Life it beautiful, isn't it?

This weekend I walk in my neighbourhood and made some photos of the snow. When it snows it’s light dusting and really beautiful. The steep bridges over the canals in Amsterdam are really slippery. ...especially for cars. The best way to travel in the snow is by bicycle, tram, walking or better by sleds like these kids. Last night extreme temperature of -9 degrees Celsius. The heavy snowfall is too bad for ice skating. Photo taken here at the corner of Egelantiersgracht / Hilletjesbrug and Tweede Egelantiersdwarsstraat in Amsterdam. On the beackground you can you see the western church build in 1620. It's a handheld streetshot at 1/250s, ISO160 and F4.0.

Sneeuwballen gevecht, sneeuwpoppen maken of sleetje rijden.

Helsinki365 is a photo project carried out by a Helsinki based freelance photographer Jussi Hellsten.

What does Helsinki look like? How does it feel – how do I feel it? Although I have lived in Helsinki for several years now, it still feels unfamiliar to me. This year-long project is my chance to explore the city in a new way and from a different perspective. The year 2012 is also a special year to be photographing Helsinki, when the city serves as the World Design Capital.

    The Lodge at Night
On the final night of the Yosemite PhotoWalk, we ended up here to explore the evening. This is the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite, and I hope I made it look as beautiful as it really is. This is also the place that Steve Jobs got married.

Karen Hutton and I arrived here very late at night after our extra-long walk! We could even see a few people camping for the night halfway up the mountain they were climbing. After going around the back side of the lodge, we saw the stars and trees and cliffs above...
